ANNOUNCEMENT UPDATE

Come to Thailand: The Majesty of an Enduring Culture, Joined to Knowledge for a Healthful Future

.........On behalf of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco and many local and regional sponsors, it is my pleasure to invite you to the very first, Asian Regional SRNT Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, October 28-31, 2008.

.........This conference is special in several ways. Its theme is “Developing Research Infrastructure and Skills to Meet FCTC Obligations.” This means that participants will be actively involved in a process that will go beyond mere sharing of experience. Working together, conference participants will build connections and plans for future research cooperation.

.........Luckily, the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control gives us all a foundation for making future research plans. Workshops and training sessions will build on this foundation with vital tools integrated into the conference schedule.

....... I have worked with the Organizing Committee to be sure that this conference is designed to give every participant an opportunity to contribute to building tobacco control research infrastructure. This gives you a unique opportunity to be part of an important unfolding process. Come to Bangkok for tobacco control progress in Asia! P.S. You will find Thailand a vibrant destination that the Social Committee will give you ample opportunity to see! Don’t miss it!

Sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Prakit Vathesatogkit
Chair, SRNT Bangkok 2008

“I urge you to join SRNT, and attend the SRNT Bangkok conference in 2008, so that we can continue to expand and communicate the science that supports effective tobacco control in Asia and worldwide."
